The estate also welcomes workshops and outdoor gatherings, providing spaces for learning and connection amidst nature.

🌿 History & Heritage
Chiddinglye Estate boasts a rich history, with roots stretching back centuries. The estate’s name is believed to derive from a man named John Chid who lived in the wood, with “Lye” referring to the wood itself. The surrounding area has historical significance, including Roman mining and smelting activities due to the presence of low-grade iron ore in the local sandstone. Chiddinglye is also home to an Iron Age Fort near which Simon Summers, a heritage blacksmith, is offering courses on ancient iron making.

🛌 Glamping & Accommodation
For those seeking an immersive countryside experience, Chiddinglye Estate offers glamping in luxury pods set amidst beautiful natural surroundings. Guests can enjoy the tranquility of the estate while staying in comfortable accommodations that blend rustic charm with modern amenities.
The 2025 Summer season will see the addition of furnished Bell tents in the woodland and a communal fire pit in Happy Valley, our ancient glade surrounded by stunning trees and Mesolithic sandstone outcrops.

Linden Outdoorsman Teaching Camp
Whilst we may explore the wider estate as part of our courses and teaching our main base of operations is amongst the Giant Sequoias on the edge of Happy Valley. We have a large covered teaching area and fire pit, a secondary covered area specifically for any game food butchery with a stainless workbench for hygiene. We have a compost toilet and mains running water with hand washing facilities. There are plenty of areas for camping if you are staying over for one of our courses or if you don't feel that brave you could book one of the glamping pods.
